David Coulthard
Salisbury Cathedral

David has been Salisbury Cathedral’s Marketing and Visitor Operations Director for six years, during which he has helped the Cathedral to reverse a decline in visitor numbers, increasing visitor income by 35%. He has also built an effective communications operation to increase Salisbury Cathedral’s profile, especially important as it celebrates the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta in 2015.

David has led the development of the Cathedral’s digital strategy and the change in culture that has been so important to its delivery. Before joining Salisbury Cathedral, David worked for a full service Marketing agency in London, largely on business to business accounts. He also spent time as the Marketing Manager for Hampshire County Council’s Recreation and Leisure portfolio, including Libraries, Museums and Countryside.

He holds a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a BA in History and an MA in Mass Communications. Married with two young children, David lives in Winchester and enjoys running and cricket.
