The best social media projects in tourism 2016
Steve Keenan
November 16, 2016In what has become a regular and very popular seminar at World Travel Market, we identified and invited along those projects which put the fizz into social media marketing during the year.
Unfortunately, Visit Denmark had to drop out on the day due to illness – but that still left four projects to present that inspired, each in very different ways. We asked four independent judges to rate their favourites in order, and invited the audience to add their vote as well.
The four projects were:
* Visit Finland: Polar Night Magic
* Costa Brava and Emilia Romagna: Euro Foodtrip
* Captivate blogger collective: #DriveUS1
* Belize Tourism: Snapchat with DJ Khaled
The judges were:
* Jeremy Jauncey, Founder and CEO of Beautiful Destinations
* Jennifer Howze, co-founder BritMums and blogger at Jenography.net
* Jeremy Head, Travel Editor at digital agency iCrossing
* Sarah Rathbone, managing director at Siren Communications
And the winners were, by very close margins (with the audience vote included):
1 Visit Finland
2= Belize Tourism
2= Costa Brava/Emilia Romagna
4 Captivate/#DriveUS1
Thanks to all the contenders – and we’ll see you back at WTM in 2017 to hear from more great projects!
